Agent Garbo: the greatest double-agent of World War Two; a talk by Dick Weindling

During WWII, Agent Garbo (Juan Pujol Garcia) who was born in Spain, persuaded the Germans that he was spying for them in London. In fact, he and his MI5 handler Tomas Harris, were sending the Germans misleading information. Later, this successfully convinced Hitler to delay the Panzer Divisions’ counter-attack on the Allied troops who had landed in Normandy on D-Day. Tomas Harris was born in West Hampstead and he and his father ran the Spanish Art Gallery in London. Dick will look at the details of this extraordinary story.
