Celebrating the Hampstead Court Rolls project: using Manorial Records to discover Local History: a talk by Virginia Bainbridge

Camden History Society recently completed an important national project, the translation of the Hampstead Court Rolls. The Rolls, which reveal Hampstead’s change from rural village to London suburb 1572-1733, are freely available to consult on the CHS website ( Hampstead Court Rolls — Camden History Society). This talk will explore the role of the manor as an important aspect of local government and the contents of the rolls themselves. Dr Virginia Bainbridge formerly worked for The National Archives Manorial Documents Register: Manorial Documents Register (nationalarchives.gov.uk).

This talk was given to our members via zoom.
