The Unity Theatre emerged in the late 1920s near King’s Cross, and in contrast to the West End at the time, performed working class theatre for working class audiences, while also providing a route into acting for workers. Through some old performance programmes, Brendan’s talk will seek to tell some of the story of the Unity and its role in theatre and society.
