A History of Lyndhurst Hall: a talk by Christine Dyos

  • Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre, Holborn Library 32-38 Theobalds Road London, WC1X 8PA UK (map)

Because of restrictions on attendee numbers, we are very sorry, but admission to this talk is limited to members of Camden History Society only.

Our speaker Christine Dyos will be covering the history of the building from its inception, its original construction in 1891, the subsequent extension in 1911, and demolition in 2006 to make way for housing.

Christine brings a unique insight into the building, as her dad was caretaker there from 1964-86. She will also cover the enormous number of activities that took place there over its 112 years.

Christine Dyos is the author of A Penny for a Brick: The History of Lyndhurst Hall, Warden Road, which also records how in 1880, the congregation of Lyndhurst Road Church in Hampstead began mission work amongst the poor of Kentish Town, leading to the building of the original Hall.
