The Streets of Camden Town - a talk by members of the research team

  • Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre, Holborn Library 32-38 Theobalds Road London, WC1X 8PA UK (map)

The latest volume in the popular Streets series is Streets of Camden Town, a complete revision of the one published in 2003. Members of the CHS research team will talk about aspects of the new book, reflecting not only on the changes in the area since then, but also on the extensive resources now available on the internet. Research team leader Steve Denford will introduce the book and highlight some of its new material such as Camden Town’s role as a centre of live music. John Cottrell will speak about transport in Camden Town; and Mark McCarthy will talk about the development of Lord Camden’s estate and some of the people who lived there. Other members of the team – Ruth and David Hayes, and Lindsay Douglas – will also be on hand to answer questions.

For CHS members unable to attend in person, we hope to live-stream this talk.

Admission: Free to CHS members. Non-members welcome (£2 at the door).
