The V-1 flying bomb that landed on 63 King Henry’s Road on 25 November 1944, totally demolishing Nos. 59, 61 and 63 - where Primrose Hill Court now stands - had a devastating impact on Eton’s Chalcot Estate and on the wider neighbourhood. We will explore the origins of the estate, the development by the enemy of these ‘revenge weapons’, the hunt for them and for their elimination, their impact on the community, and the aftermath of the bombing in terms of planning and reconstruction.
