In six walks through Gospel Oak and the western reaches of Kentish Town, this volume describes the history of an area that was green fields until the 19th century.  It tells of abortive plans for middle-class villas, Victorian terraces that deteriorated in places into slums and the comprehensive redevelopment of the 1960s – so comprehensive that the original street layout is in places no more.
